ActionAid Denmark praised in comprehensive evaluation for remarkable results
ActionAid Denmark has undergone the largest evaluation since 2003, and the conclusions are predominantly positive.
24. January 2012AADK has undergone the largest evaluation since 2003 and the result is overwhelmingly positive. 13 consultants, from the International NGO Training and Research Centre INTRAC, have been reviewing the past 6 years of AADKs work. Among other analysis, they interviewed more than 200 people and conducted 12 surveys. Independent evaluations of ActionAid Denmark’s country programs were also reviewed and evaluated. The result is a large evaluation synthesis report and a number of stand-alone reports, each focused on different aspects of AADK's work.
“AADK has demonstrated a track record of achievement during a period of wide-ranging and profound change. It remains in a period of transition. The new AAI strategy offers a number of opportunities for AADK to increase its impact and influence”, concludes the evaluation report.
These results are met with great joy in the organisation.
- We are very pleased that the evaluation concludes that we have made the right strategic choices in the great transformative process that AADK has gone through in the past six years. Based on this, we stand as a much stronger organisation today and are ready to continue the development in a new AADK strategy process, which we have just begun, says Secretary General Frans Mikael Jansen.
AADK has undergone a significant development over the last six years – clearly marked by the affiliation with the international federation ActionAid International. AAI, as an international federation, has the same strategic approach to development work as AADK. The membership of AAI has meant that AADK's country offices were merged with AAI’s independent national offices throughout 2010-2011, in order to create a greater ownership of development in the countries of cooperation.
- AADK has played a special role in ActionAid within the governance theme and the theme of working with youth through Activista. Additionally, we have contributed with our extensive training program and our development of the voluntary capacity building support program, People4Change. We are extremely pleased that the evaluation has been very positively received by ActionAid and the evaluation recommends that AADK continues to play a key role in these areas of ActionAid International, says Frans Mikael Jansen, supported by the leader of the evaluation team.
- MS AADK has had to make some tough decisions in the last six years to keep pace with new challenges and opportunities in the development sector. This comprehensive evaluation provides evidence of some remarkable achievements during this period of transition as well some important learning for the future”, says Team Leader Cowan Coventry, INTRAC.
