The day before the car accident, Betina left the capital of Zambia to travel to the northern part of the country to coach local partners in radio production.

Betina was a journalist who qualified from the University of Southern Denmark and was, during her employment at MS, on leave from her job at DR, the national Danish media station.

At MS Betina was instantly known as a lively, dynamic and competent employee. She was highly committed and engaged in every assignment she embarked on, especially on issues related to democracy, human rights and the conditions of marginalised people.

Since the announcement of Betina’s tragic death, numerous messages of condolence and declarations of sympathy and support have been received by Betina’s family and the MS Country Office in Zambia. A memorial service will be held at Betina’s home in Zambia on 25th September in the afternoon where friends and colleagues will have the chance to say goodbye to this dedicated person who was an inspiration to us all.

Betina Dalgas was 35 years old and leaves behind her husband and their two year old son. She will be very sadly missed.
